The magnificent old walled city of Dubrovnik is steeped in historical, architectural and artistic treasures boasting spectacular Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque churches, monasteries, palaces and fountains within the pedestrianised, cobbled lanes of the Old Town. Set against a backdrop of wooded hillsides and with panoramic views of the Dalmatian coastline, this is the place that George Bernard Shaw called "Paradise on Earth", and possibly more famously to TV buffs, has been used as the set of King's Landing in HBO's Game of Thrones.

Join us for a superb Croatian getaway to the 'pearl of the Adriatic' which includes for the first time an excursion to Montenegro's Kotor Bay area and a galleon cruise round the Elaphite islands.

This great–value break includes flights and transfers, choice of 4 star hotel with breakfast, dinner and Croatian magic as standard.

Lapad

Lapad is located some 4km outside the city walls. Centred around a white shingle beach with clear blue sea and surrounded by dense woodland, Lapad bay is an ideal place for swimming, sunbathing and enticing walks around the peninsula or along the promenade dotted with cafes and restaurants.

Sunday Check in at your chosen airport for your flight to Dubrovnik, where on arrival we will transfer you to a choice of 4 star Lapad hotels for check in and free time before dinner and the first of seven nights stay.

Monday After breakfast there will be a Welcome Meeting during which you can find out about the area and any additional excursions which may be available (please note if booking any of these, payment is in Croatian kuna or by credit/debit card only). The rest of the day is free until dinner.

Tuesday Breakfast and then the day is at leisure until dinner.

Wednesday An early start today (around 7.30am) for our full–day excursion to Montenegro. It's actually just an hour's drive from Dubrovnik, and we'll be touring some of its gorgeous plunging coastline around the Kotor Bay area. We'll stop in the medieval town of Kotor, before driving inland up into the mountains through Cetinje, once the seat of Montenegrin rulers, and the town of Budva, and ancient settlement and now a lively tourist resort. We return to Dubrovnik in time for dinner.

Note: you'll need to bring your passport for this excursion.

Thursday Another day at leisure to explore the area, or join a boat cruise or other excursion.

Friday Another early (ish) start today as we embark on our galleon cruise around three of the most beautiful islands of the Dubrovnik archipelago: Koločep, Lopud and Šipan, together known as the Elaphite islands (elaphos - Greek for deer, not elephant!). The air here is sweet with citrus aromas from the orange and lemon orchards, and you can also find olives, figs, vines, carob, almond and pomegranite trees. There are lovely beaches and picturesque old villages with seaman's houses and little votive churches. We'll visit all three islands with lots of time to explore, and enjoy a lunch of grilled fish and wine while being entertained by local musicians.

NOTE: casual clothing and swimwear is recommended.

Saturday A last free day to do some souvenir hunting.

Sunday Breakfast and then transfer to the airport for your flight home
